A Tale of Two Scorpions : Part 1

I purchased Scorpion #1495 (a ’77 model) back in 1996. I somehow found the car in Tulsa (this was pre-internet), bought a one-way ticket.. flew in.. bought the car.. and drove it back to Dallas. It made the trip just fine, so my concern about the large amount of welding/repair I saw in the front passenger-side area under the front bonnet was eased a bit. I drove the car without issue for a few years and enjoyed every minute! Nobody knew what it was… I often was told that I had a nice looking Delorean.

Then I started to seriously consider putting time into refurbishment and restoration. I knew the car had hit something hard on the left front wing… but I wasn’t really sure how bad it was. So, I started to pull off the front facia and eventually found this:

After discussions with a mechanic friend, I decided that this car is probably not one I should restore/refurb. As luck would have it, that same friend had a line on a “project” Scorpion, and I soon added Scorpion #1174 ( a ’76 model) to my garage!
